Wanyenze has long and varied clinical and public health experience in tropical diseases research, with emphasis on tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS.^[4] She has worked at the Makerere University School of Public Health, since 2008. She has managed the postgraduate fellowship program at the School of Public Health, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Global Fund, among others. She has also carried out original research in the areas of maternal and child health.

Prior to joining the Program, Alice was a Project Coordinator at Makerere School of Public Health, for the Covid Multi country project. Until 2020, she held the position of Public Health Specialist, HIV Treatment Team Lead, at CDC Uganda. Previously, she worked with Uganda Ministry of Health and Makerere University Medical School as a Senior Consultant Physician and Honorary Lecturer.

Alice is a member of the Association of Physicians of Uganda (APU), the Uganda Gastroenterology Society, Deputy Chair of the UVRI Research and Ethics Committee and was one of the founder members of the Uganda National Health Consumers Organization (UNHCO), where she served on the BOD for several years and is a member of the Uganda Virus Research Institute – Research and Ethics Committee (UVRI-REC).

Dr. Alice Namale holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Makerere University, a Masters in Internal Medicine (MUK) and Masters in Public Health from London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, UK.

Her Bachelor’s Degree is in Human Medicine (MBChB) from Makerere University, Uganda. She has over 16 years of experience in service including clinical work in a district as a medical officer, teaching, and research. Esther has a strong background in field research with 10 years of experience in designing and implementing community and facility-based research, mainly in TB, HIV, and malaria.

Evelyn holds a PhD in Program Management, a Master of Science in Health Services Management and a Bachelor of Art degree, Social Sciences.

Edgar’s experience of working with USAID, CDC funded projects and the Government of Uganda (MoH) has equipped him with an excellent knowledge of both the PEPFAR and National reporting requirements. He has competences in data management, analysis and interpretation, reporting and presentation. Edgar holds a Master of Public Health Degree from the School of Public Health, Makerere University and a Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery from Mbarara University. Additionally, Edgar holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation (PGD M&E) from Uganda Management Institute (UMI)

Simon has served as an M&E advisor for several PEPFAR funded HIV/AIDS programs in Uganda. He currently coordinates the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) project of the METS program. In addition, he lectures and supervises MPH students in the Department of Disease Control and Environmental Health, School of Public Health, Makerere University. Over the past one decade, Simon has been actively involved in scientific and operations research and programming for HIV/AIDS, Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and Child Health and has widely published in high impact peer reviewed journals.

His recent publications focus on quality of HIV/AIDS prevention programs, communication with HIV-infected children, increasing treatment coverage for schistosomiasis control and increasing access to children’s medicines. In addition, Simon has made several scientific presentations at both local and international conferences and meetings.

Simon holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), a Master of Public Health (MPH) and a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health (Dr-PH) from Makerere University.

I have expertise in strategic planning for Health Information technology/ Health Informatics implementation investment for resource-constrained environments. Specialties: Health IT, mHealth, Strategic planning, Open source, EMR/EHR, Public health informatics, Health systems Management, Informatics problem solving, Interoperability (data exchange), HIS/EMR standards and guidelines, Project management, Business process analysis, Data exchange standards, eHealth policy and laws.

Jonathan has worked as a consultant with WHO on health information systems and he is currently working with Makerere University School of Public Health – METS program as a Health Informatics Specialist. Before joining the School of Public Health in 2012, he worked with Makerere University College of Computing and Information Technology as a Software Developer.

My research interests include disease surveillance, global health, evaluation methodologies, public health workflow, mHealth technologies that promote health, and developing information management infrastructure in resource-constrained environments He is a member of Uganda Health Informatics Association, Kenya Health Informatics Association, global OpenMRS community, global DHIS2 community, global Bahmni community, OpenSRP and currently the President of Makerere University Health Informatics Association.
